Pros

It was a focused, team work environment. The work hours were good, 40 hrs a week plus the occasional weekend. The salary matched skill and knowledge.

Cons

There was too much focus on accident investigation and too little focus on inspection and training. If your time is spent on investigating accidents, then your safety plan isn't working.

Pros

Good people to work with if the family (management) doesn't drive them away. Good clientele.

Cons

Family comes first. Period. Family members (who don't even work there) are known to receive full salaries and benefits accorded to all full-time employees. So you work for a family of entitled deadbeats. Strong on promises but lack follow-through. Compensation is adequate although they need to incorporate the commissions into the actual salary. Time off policies are a rip-off; you can have an amount of unused vacation time that converts to sick leave annually, but you cannot use it as sick leave (not even one day) until you deplete ALL of your vacation time for that year. And even if you do use all of your vacation in during the calender year (without being sick), you're not considered a 'team player.' They manage the operation by 'mailbox:' ie: whatever paid invoices arrive by mailbox on a particular day indicates the company's financial stability (on that day). Under-educated but long term office manager believes she's part of the actual family and will do ANYTHING to secure her tenure/position, even if it means magnifying or embellishing a situation to management to achieve a personal objective. Management doesn't trust their employees nor their clients' employees. This feeling is reciprocated by the company's employees... If you leave, expect to be trashed. This building suffers from Sick Building Syndrome....If one person gets sick, you can expect it to infiltrate your work area. Very secretive with finances and business stability.
