working at the shelter with clients is rewarding. fundraisers can be fun. that's about it.
Cons
you will be underpaid and disrespected. you will be gaslighted about issues you raise and, frankly, controlled and abused. this job made me suicidal and I was so lucky to be able to quit without a new job lined up.
