Pros
For most departments, there are flexibility in terms of working from home, and working hours as long as it fulfilled 7.5 working hours/ day. However, don’t expect it from other department; Operation-based for example. It is really up to the department and the nature of business (department). There are activities, boardgames night, Movie Night, sports/ activities for KL employees. The facilities/ office condition is nice (expected from MNC company).
Cons
1)Transportation allowance has been fixed since 5 years ago (since SWIFT was first started in KL, 2013) It is a challenge since this country went thru many changes especially tolls, the stability of Ringgit (this point is valid if you see from angle, you were asked to go for business travel, you were given a per-diem allowance. Take that amount and convert Ringgit to EUR..you would feel the differences) :s 2) Flexi-benefit claim - the amount remain the same since 4 years (adding dental & vision allowance). Claim can be done for vitamins, monitors, etc but not laptop/ PC 3) Each department have different styles. If you are in department that is chasing numbers/ target..you might have a team that you need to compete individually instead of working as “a team”. There are ranking displayed which you able to see where you at. People can do whatever they want (ie; work more than 7.5 hours/ stay back) as at the end of the day, numbers and graph matters. Since certain manager chase numbers, it makes people to be individualistic. 4) Don’t have high hope to change how things being done. If things have been decided from the Top (management from HQ/BE), the definition of ‘challenge status quo’ most can’t be applied. Things have been decided, and you have to execute. There are some ‘rigidness’ in this sense. (Generation gap; more gen X, Y in KL than HQ/BE) 5) Make sure your salary is enough before you join. Average yearly increment is in between 4-6 % But this is depends on your skillset, department and yourself. Some might not get at all..particularly this year. 6) Do we have a structured program to groom existing employees in KL to become the next leader/ Manager ? NO. 7) As of now, there is no such thing as employee loyalty/ reward or even acknowledgment in KL. It gives an impression that this is just another company to work in.
