Pros

SHIFT is an amazing place to work. The culture is fun and collaborative with full transparency. There are many fun ways that teams bond together and they are able to do their best work together as a result. SHIFT values real-time feedback, which means employees constantly have the ability to learn and grow and benefit from ongoing feedback. Transparency is extremely high and employees at all levels feel like they are part of the company conversation and like they know what’s going on with other accounts, offices, and the overall company vision. SHIFT does a great job of hiring team-oriented players who want to do their best work, help their teammates and who make it fun to come to work. Everyone does their share and team members are smart and dedicated. It’s refreshing to be surrounded by so many people who all share the same desire to move the needle in a positive way for clients. That team comradery is shown through positive results and creative work. There is an abundance of communication between team members so that issues are dealt with immediately and the team is able to move forward in a positive way. There is also a treasure trove of resources available across the entire company through internal trainings, intranet resources on almost any topic one could think of and through great cross-office communication. People at other offices are very open to picking up the phone and brainstorming or talking through client, account or other situations so employees truly feel part of the larger SHIFT family. PR can be “always on” but SHIFT does a nice job of setting boundaries and promoting work/life balance. SHIFT also has GREAT benefits.

Cons

It can sometimes be challenging to take on work above one’s level even when there is a desire to do so. However, through open and continuous conversation about responsibilities, there are ways to discuss this and try to keep pushing for new challenges while still supporting the team on admin or media needs.

Pros

I was hesitant to join another agency after a couple of “standard” agency experiences- chronically overservicing accounts, regularly working late, high manager turnover and a senior team that only paid lip service to staff challenges. But a recruiter insisted that SHIFT was different and I am so happy I joined the agency four years ago. SHIFT truly is different and cares about its people just as much as the clients we work with. Work-life balance? Check. Supportive colleagues? Check. A culture without politics? Check. Clients who treat us well? Check. Clear career progression? Check. Added to the caring culture, I am constantly wowed (but not surprised) by the smarts of my colleagues at all levels. My colleagues constantly bring high quality creative thinking, consultancy and results to our clients. SHIFTers are a wonderful combination of relentless and curious, plus other key traits. Overall, SHIFT is the agency that’s walking the talk and doing things right. Keep it up!

Cons

When I first joined, some of the benefits weren’t great, but since SHIFT has become a Padilla agency the benefits are so much better across the board.
