Cons
Working in recruitment is undoubtedly a challenging role—it requires resilience, strong communication skills, and a supportive environment to thrive. Unfortunately, during my time at SAAF, I felt that none of these essential supports were in place. There was no proper training or onboarding process, which left me unprepared and unsure of expectations. Despite the pressures of the role, particularly the high targets, very little guidance or constructive feedback was offered. Instead, the management style felt overly micromanaged, which only added to the stress rather than helping to build confidence and independence.
Commission structures were unclear and often not paid correctly, which impacted motivation and trust in the company. Additionally, the branch manager was not someone staff felt they could turn to for advice or support, making the environment feel isolating and unfriendly. Overall, it felt like the company was more focused on profits than people—both staff and candidates.
