Pros
Good starting salary, good corporate business with good benefits, nice people to work around. Has all your basics of what a company should provide but cons out weight that.
Cons
If you are applying for the current inside sales/customer service positions at Ryerson you should note that it will be your responsibility to train yourself. You will be given no materials to better help you learn, no one on one training sessions with management, no clear and concise guidelines or training material. You will basically be thrown a full customer load within a couple months of sitting with the other ISR's and learn everything about your job as it comes to you in real time and real situations and be able to do it as fast as possible. If you have no experience in the metals industry do not except them to go to great lengths to teach you about it. I was let go after eight months in the position, probably six of those I was handling a full desk of customers and five of those months i was working at home. But i was not performing the job perfectly yet so I was let go. Manager does not take any time or put any effort into helping you succeed unless you seek it out in which case she will act annoyed or frustrated that your coming to her for guidance. Just bad management skills and very cold, unhappy person. Basically terrible onboarding, excepting to much out of a new employee and toxic manager. I would not take this job if you do not have experience in the metals industry.
