Pros

Colleagues are supportive, relaxed and fun to work with. Good annual leave allowance. The work rota is varied and allows a few hours a day to "patrol" the gardens. Visitor engagement is often enjoyable.

Cons

Management are often critical for no reason other than being in a bad mood resulting from something else. Progression is impossible. Annual Leave is only guaranteed with booking a year in advance. Staff suggestions are sneered at then implemented a couple of years later on. Other departments often look down upon the role we have to play and don't realise or recognise the issues we suffer. Lack of induction training in all things other than how to operate a till. No real meaningful purpose or job enrichment. Visitor engagement can be frustrating with the numerous barriers we have to overcome just to do what we are paid to do. Wasteful of resources and subcontractors are well known for mistreating and exploiting their staff.
