Pros
You get to be part of a reputable furniture company. However do not be deceived by the facade of the Singapore branch. They have an old fashioned work ethic and a very rude boss. One day I requested to work from home as one of my family members got covid. The request was not granted as the boss said there are no such arrangements. I went to work, turns out I was really covid positive the next day. The lack of concern for their staffs welfare is a major concern. One pro is that I have worked with very pleasant colleagues there, just really poor management.
Cons
I am writing this as I am genuinely concerned for the people who are about to get hired in the SINGAPORE branch. Here are some tips for people about to join the SINGAPORE team: - Read the contract carefully as they offer bonds and contract terms of up to 2 years. They prefer a bond as there is a high turnover rate. Remember to read carefully and know your rights. - If the commissions are based on INVOICE do not sign. Invoice meaning once the furniture has been delivered, not when u close the sales initially. As the furniture ordered by customers take 6months to arrive, you only get your commissions when it has arrived and delivered. If you leave before this 6 months you will get 0 commissions. Remember to read the contract carefully or they will use it against you. -They provide late payslips and sometimes late salary. Be sure to check if you are getting paid the right amount every month. -The boss lack professionalism and isn’t we’ll mannered. -Lastly do not be afraid, remember that no contract is binding if they did not explain it clearly and precisely to you. -Overall it is a great stepping stone and eye opening experience but no where to build a career. Remember to proceed with caution.
