The pay is very low for what they expect from you. There are very few opportunities for experienced tutors, and there is no advantage to having seniority as a tutor except eventually gaining a few dollars more per lesson, but if you teach enough you will quickly reach the maximum. They recently pushed everyone onto the same pay scale (during a cost of living crisis and pandemic I might add) meaning senior tutors who joined many years ago and who were on a different pay scale are now making less money for the exact same job, which was not what had initially been advertised and agreed upon. It meant taking a pay cut of $1 - $5 per lesson, which is significant. It was a poor way of showing gratitude for tutors who had been around for 3 years or more.
