Pros

The employees at Rikumo/Morihata International Ltd. Co., and the company in general, greatly values craftsmanship. Employees get a discount on most products.

Cons

Depending on the position, you will be expected to step in and do tasks that should not be under your job description. By the end of my time there, I was doing the work of at least three people. The leadership is very disorganized and makes decisions haphazardly. They also don't value their employees, especially those who work in retail, and will rarely hire the correct amount of people for the labour being done. This results in a hectic work environment and quick turnover.

Pros

Interesting to work with Japanese and speak some japanese. Cool products.

Cons

- Don't believe anything management says about advancement or more opportunity. They're saying that so you consider staying longer but they can't offer any advancement due to their company size. It's a lie. They should be more honest about their trajectory and anticipate people leaving and seek to have true relationships with the people that come in and out. There's no advancement or salary opportunity so people will inevitably leave. - Management over time began to betray employees. They would literally change the schedule the day of or the day before employees were to show up and work, such as cutting hours by half an hour, etc. It was horribly wrong and people have bills to pay and mouths to feed. If the company was in such a state then they should have been up front. Unfortunately management began to be dishonest. Don't expect loyalty from this employer. - This company is not wise in their growth strategy. It looks pretty and nice and the will tell you about all the great stuff their doing/going to do. But it's largely unrealistic. It's model is not scalable. It won't get any bigger than where it is now. - They hire young graduates who are naive and take advantage of them.
