Pros

A decent chance to gain experience in the waste management sector.

Cons

Essentially all positions are underpaid for what you’re required to do. Management is very unorganized, which causes operations to follow suit. The opportunity for growth is non existent because the company is specifically structured to pay people low salaries at entry level positions. The work environment is toxic, due to everyone being over worked / over stressed / under paid. No one wants to do anything that isn’t specifically a part of their job description because of the fact that their too stressed from what’s already on their plate.

Pros

The shift supervisor role consists of busy days with a lot of varying priorities. You are responsible for emissions regulation, work permits, specialized permits, managing changing plant conditions, and administrative personnel requirements. This can be a high-octane role but has a more relaxed period on night shift and when outages aren't occurring (planned shutdowns for maintenance). Expect to drive plant performance and employee development. Many opportunities for professional and personal development if you put the time in.

Cons

The plant culture will play a huge role in your quality of life, since most of your time will be at the plant. This can be good or bad. Quite a few managers do not engage or develop personnel due to various qualities. You will have to do the leg work in fostering a change for personnel development.
