Pros
- There are many kind people who work here, particularly at the individual contributor level. - Certain departments are better than others in terms of work environment. - Headquarters locations in north Phoenix & north Scottsdale are in good locations convenient to a lot of amenities (e.g. lots of lunch options). - Work/life balance is generally very good in most parts of the organization. If you're able to tolerate the work environment from 8am to 5pm, work generally does not extend beyond those hours. - Relatively high paying for the Phoenix area. Very generous bonuses starting at the Manager level and above.
Cons
- Most of the important information in the company is tribal knowledge, shared orally. - The *vast majority* of leaders in the org, starting as low as the Sr. Manager level, are white, cisgendered, heterosexual men who have wives who stay at home, so there is a lot of tribalism among this group of leaders. - It is very difficult for people outside this majority demographic to truly have positive influence in the organization unless they conform to the norms of the majority group. Conformity is the antidote to innovation. - Leadership is unwilling to make meaningful investments necessary for the future of the organization (e.g. technology) in exchange for keep their costs down and the stock prices high. - Old school, "must be present to win" mentality when it comes to work. - Lots of complicity among all levels of the organization. No one is rewarded for thinking differently and is generally penalized for doing so.
