Great career, less-than-great company - Flight Attendant Republic Airways Employee Review

Pros

The pros of the company are just those of working for any airline - like cheap-to-free travel, some great overnights, and awesome coworkers. There's nothing specifically standout about this place in particular.

Cons

It's hard to get wrapped up in a life-long career dream when, everywhere you turn, somebody's trying to make it more miserable for you. What's not to like about flying around the country, flexible schedules and awesome coworkers? Scheduling that treats you like crap, managers who look for ways to punish you, no support from the company in reigning in unreasonable passengers, too-short overnights, too-long duty days, either too-short-for-meal or too-long-to-be-real layovers between flights, inflexible management human resource practices, and a really tragic reserve process.

Pros

Travel benefits on American, United, Delta, jumpseat agreements with other carriers and ID travel on most other airlines including international carriers. Great starting experience and introduction to working in aviation.

Cons

Will hire just about anyone, were hiring by video interviews alone at one time, so quality of people varied. Notorious for base closures, got displaced at least 5 times due to base closures. All bases in Midwest and northeast. In the past most bases were in outstations and noncommutable. Low pay.
