Pros
-Free Chiropractic Care, and employee discounts -Potential for Bonus (referrals) -Flexible schedule: Extremely flexible to meet your needs schedule-wise. During training, you will be expected to work 3-4 days a week, but once you are fully trained (usually 2-4 weeks depending on how proficient you are) you will have the ability to work with the manager for the shifts you can work. Great for students who have a different schedule semester-to-semester. -Hands-on Patient Experience: Following training, as an employee, you have the opportunity to work one-on-one with patients throughout their therapies, which is a rare opportunity to find as an undergraduate student (great for Pre-med, Pre-PA, Pre-OT, Pre-chiropractic, etc.) - Professional Development in a healthcare setting: Will develop professional skills with patients, including office and secretarial skills. Will work in charting and medical records, which is a good experience for those looking to work in healthcare - Great work environment: Typically work a single shift with 2-4 other CA's, in general, the atmosphere is professional but fun. Often have company lunches to celebrate various holidays. Co-workers are friendly and often meet up outside of work -The patients: You will work with patients, young and old, from all different walks of life. If you have a passion for patient care, you will leave feeling fulfilled. The patients are great, and I have had some amazing conversations while providing therapies. Ultimately, this is a great job to gain healthcare experience and work directly with patients. As a premedical student myself, I have a passion for working with patients and helping them in their healing process. If you are a college student, this is a great way to gain hours, directly work with patients, and have autonomy within your job, with a flexible schedule. You will get out of it what you put in, for me, this is a stepping stone in my career. Dr.Renner is also very willing to sign off on hour trackers, give you additional education in his areas of expertise, as well as help you reach your career goals. I will be here until I graduate, where the lessons learned, skills obtained, and general experience at Renner Chiropractic will serve me well in medical school.
Cons
-Non-competitive pay: Pay isn't significant, which is why I would say a majority of the CA's are college students working towards other careers in healthcare, where you can sacrifice pay for the experience obtained from the job. Ultimately, I could make more working across the street at Mcdonald's or Walmart, but the pay isn't what keeps me or any of my coworkers here.
