Pros

I'm struggling but if anything the pension is OK

Cons

Where do I start? The reason I am self employed is due to previously working for Raytheon and vowing to never to never work for an employer again. In that respect, thank you. I initially loved the job. I worked hard but then again I had too as I had two managers who each demanded work from myself. I even didn't mind working 10 hours a day, 7 days a week while others had turned off their PC at 4pm and sat swivelling in their chairs for the last hour each day. I loved my job but my attitude was quickly changing after witnessing good staff leave through the institutionalised bullying rife throughout Raytheon. Some members were paid off in order to keep quiet about being bullied!!! Childish managers who think of themselves as the big I AM promise their buddies still serving in the RAF a future position within Raytheon with a nod and wink which is something every employee should be aware of if those buddies have a similar skillset to yours. Again I watched staff being brought to tears and frogmarched out of the building over false allegations and watch the perpetrators laughing while making statements such as 'shall we make xxx aware that a position is now available? ha ha. It'll be good working with them again they are such a laugh'. This upset a lot of the staff. How can the other management turn a blind eye to this. Report it and you're told to stop telling tales like you would to a child. Well it certainly is a chapter in my life that I wish to forget but are unable to do so. The bullying was so intense and still is from what I hear. The management are nothing more than school yard bullies. I wish that was all but having been employed within IT for some 30 years it was obvious that the project's system had either been designed by someone who 'dabbles' at home or was purposely set up this way for some commercial reason. After pointing out obvious visible flaws and explaining that military staff are not stupid and in most cases have attended more courses then the majority of all of our staff put together i was shot down and informed that I need to look at this from a commercial angle at whatever cost. So that question had been answered. I certainly could no longer work for a company whose 'ethics' are so far from the those they preach.
