Pros
The recent acquisition by Cox Enterprises was the huge shot in the arm RapidScale needed. We all got significantly better benefits and now they can hire at will. - New, seasoned management team led by some solid leaders. - Cox benefits including 401K matching with health benefits being very competitively priced. - In one word, the culture is collaborative. You cannot be a lone wolf. You've got to be able to be a team player and ask for help if you get stuck. We work very hard, but play just as hard. I love walking in the door everyday being surrounded by top level talent. - Being a minority myself, the diversity has improved significantly since I arrived over a year ago. - The work-life balance has significantly improved since the Cox acquisition as we've been able to add more engineers across the board.
Cons
RapidScale is NOT for everyone. You cannot sit back and expect to be successful. You have to learn on the fly at times and are going to be thrown into many situations that are outside your comfort zone. This is a con to most, but can be a pro as you'll gain valuable experience. Engineering as a whole is always willing to help each other and any member of RapidScale in general. - Training at RapidScale is pretty much on the job. For example, I had to learn firewalls and more advanced networking without a training class. I was able to do so with the help of one of my teammates. It was very difficult to begin with but ended up being a big plus for me. - Depending on your position, you may need to travel a lot. My position doesn't need to travel as much as Sales.
