Company with great people, regaining ground after management shakeups - Project Manager RailPros Employee Review

Pros

Great people, supportive internal teams, competing with other companies, and not with internal groups. 40 hour work week expected, with the ability to bill straight time over 40 (for billable projects). Upper management actively working to make improvements. Lots of different internal groups means you can work with (and potentially transfer to) other groups that deal with rail. On that note, RailPros is very focused on railroad design, and it's not a second thought, or fringe department, like in larger firms.

Cons

Accounting software is difficult to work with (currently supplementing with Power BI dashboard). IT policies used to be more relaxed, but now there's a lot more red tape (probably for the best due to security issues, but still annoying)

Pros

Pay is decent, start out at $30hr then $35hr after 6mos.

Cons

100% travel, hotel life gets lonely and boring. Senior Managers are quick to fire. No growth opportunity in this field.
