Pros
I did my pupillage at RL&P and continued to work there for a few years as a junior associate thereafter. I enjoyed the work, which was challenging at times but I felt like I always had the support of my colleagues and my supervisors in my own team and also firm-wide. It's good exposure because you get to work with fairly big-name clients, and you learn quickly on the go thanks to solid precedents, regular internal seminars, as well as pooled knowledge from your peers. Having done internships at a couple of other firms in the past, one part of the firm culture that stood out for me was that there was generally a good feeling of rapport between the associates, partners and of course the business staff. I could rely on help when I needed it, and equally I felt like I was counted upon in return. I made good friends there that I won't be forgetting anytime soon. Also, minor point (buy why not be complete) - Midvalley and Gardens malls are right next door! Loved the location. In summary - interesting work, great colleagues! (I left due to personal circumstances that required me to relocate)
Cons
The work hours can be hectic at times, but I think anyone would be hard-pressed to a find a reputable law firm that doesn't come with a fairly substantial workload! Other than that, I think the only other negative experience I had personally was not attributable to the firm but rather one specific employee (who was obscenely rude to everyone and just generally impossible to work with, despite good support from management), but to my understanding he has since left the firm of his own accord. I wish him (her? it? let's go with "it") luck in finding a new place in which to settle down. I can neither confirm nor deny that "it" has left a review here with which I strongly disagreed, and which prompted me to post my own review to reflect my own experiences at the firm.
