Pros
Great pay, great benefits (except retirement), and healthy work load
Cons
The local 48 takes $16/hr of your working hours from the company, %1.5 of your pay in union dues, and $2.75/hr from you to contribute to your retirement. Come to find out because we're not giving them at least $3.50/hr to our retirement they can take $1 from that $2.75 we pay and put it in whatever they want and we'll never see it again. So now we're actually only getting 1.75/hr into our retirement, and we still need to pay taxes on top of that when we go to collect. Imagine working somewhere for over 20 years and learning that when you retire in another 10 you'll only be receiving $2000 a month in retirement benefits before taxes! How heartless and inconsiderate. The 48 should be abolished. Work for yourself, not the union.
