Pros

Job security, opportunity to succeed, personal accountability, competitive benefits and compensation, ability to influence positive change, and your job can provide purpose and meaning rather than a means to an end. A place where you can develop a rewarding and meaningful career.

Cons

Personality conflicts and cliques reign supreme. People are not treated well and there is a large amount of disrespect towards others. There seems to be a pervasive attitude of covering your tracks and having zero trust in others. Perception is more important to Management style than actual tangible results. You are measured on results, but rated based on your perception. Management places to high a value in peer reviews and spends little time recognizing accomplishments. There is also a lack of motivation to challenge the norm due to fear of reprisal and public humiliation that will negatively impact your perception. Personal objectives, motivation and agenda will most often trump organizational objectives, and if recognized, the organizational objectives will begin to align with personal agenda. Meetings are a lesson in the "chink in the armor" approach, where subordinates are afraid to speak up.

Pros

I worked at Raytheon for over 4 years and had a great experience. The company provided many learning and growth opportunities. I was promoted twice during my tenure with the company, and my responsibility increased significantly. I felt like my management supported me and provided me with the career mentorship that I was seeking. I felt empowered and respected during my time there.

Cons

It can be difficult to work at such a large defense contractor company because of all the process and red tape. Things can move slowly, you have to be patient and pick your battles. That being said, if you learn how to work within the system, you can make a significant impact here!
