Pros
Lots of experience to be gained: heavy equipment use, hazmat experience, basic mechanical skills, understanding strapping chart systems and logistics systems. Money is okay, averaged 10-20 hours of overtime weekly
Cons
Strong disconnect between upper management and terminal operators, mainly due to regional managers inability to handle issues at terminals and ultimately dismissing them when brought to CEO’s attention. Management also made it very difficult to be prepared for accidents on the yard by dismissing needs for spill prevention and first aid. Limited spill pads, oil dry and no safety showers. Was told “if you do it right you won’t need to clean it up”. Very unrealistic approach to this industry
