Pros
A well known and respected organisation in the community, this does motivate people to work hard to contribute There is opportunity for career growth
Cons
The sales and retail space is quite frightening, with the lens of a Human Resources on. Think people you shouldn’t leave in charge of a pot plant. Any department meetings for with the management from that area were always an eye opening experience. They promoted one who is a long running joke in the company, there was even advice given that the reputation was poor. A known bully, obnoxious with many records of underperformance in his unit. But managed to always blame someone else. They managed to land a role in an area they had no capability in, and be promoted. This & actions like it in that area, made a significant number of quality people very disillusioned, and completely convinced that the company is corrupt. Many jobs “handed” to people in there with no business having them, which creates problems in the department but also for others that need to collaborate with with them or give them advice on hiring or retaining employees. Advice not being taken and information discarded on a candidate better suited, so the person can hire a friend family member or someone they can control The rest of the organisation, has its pitfalls like any other when it comes to leadership, but does have some competent leaders in place. There is a focus on competency in the more professional spaces like Legal, and the Insurance areas, they do make considerable effort to ensure their leadership team is effective and will act when they are aware of issues
