Pros

The voluntary separation offer was good.

Cons

I and hundreds of colleagues were transferred from Providence Health & Services to R1. We were told we were guaranteed our jobs for a year. They started offering voluntary separation packages less than a year in. This was suspicious. I didn't take the first couple of offers, but eventually I did - things were feeling uneasy. Since leaving I've heard that there were several layoffs. R1's India team has taken over a lot of the coding we were doing. In the reviews I read before we started with R1 I know losing jobs to the India team was common. I'm glad I left when I did but it's been hard finding a new job.

Pros

Decent quality of life, annual bonus.

Cons

You will never be promoted. If you're an employee who crushes every metric, your annual raise will be a whopping 1% higher than someone who gets a mediocre review - so a 4% raise. Anything beyond a 4% raise won't be approved due to "budget constraints", yet somehow the company is able to acquire other companies every 1-2 years for 10s of millions of dollars. I have changed roles twice now into completely different areas, was promised raises by senior leadership for the expanded scope, then nothing happened. Benefits suck.
