Pros

The work is much different than I expected when I was hired. It is very detailed and we get to work on cool projects in the City. I have learned more working here than I did in school. The people and work environment is great, everyone is really nice!

Cons

Not too much of a con but there are a lot of deadlines, but management tries to give us enough time to complete them.

Pros

- Exposure to high end hospitality & commercial projects in NYC - Experience in the filing process of projects with NYC DOB - Located in Bay Shore, nice town with lots of places to eat - Lots of sunlight in the office

Cons

- Top down approach from management. - Unpaid overtime (sometimes required). - No work from home (unless sick). - No use of BiM or any 3D softwares. - State minimum PTO & sick time. - No retirement program. - No financial aid toward licensure. The principal Wade holds his company to a high standard of care but treats his employees questionably. While I was able to get exposure to high end hospitality & commercial projects, I lost confidence in my work. I left most reviews with Wade feeling that things were my fault and that I should have known better. Rather than explaining things in a constructive manor, Wade often got frustrated with my (& others) mistakes, and made comments that felt more like disrespect than criticism. I still learned while working in this office, although I found myself dreading my interactions with Wade. Overall, my experience was more stressful than enjoyable and the office atmosphere eventually led me to quit. Granted I’m fresh out of school and still learning, but I know developing skills & working in this industry doesn’t have to be as stressful as my experience here. In my opinion this is a hostile work environment. Everyone is different but if you do decide to take this job, know your worth.
