Pros
My experience at Quilombo UK has been extremely positive. The directors are kind, approachable, and genuinely invested in helping people develop. They provide guidance and support while encouraging you to improve both professionally and personally.
One of the best aspects of working with Quilombo UK is the opportunity to gain hands-on experience across different areas. If you are willing to take initiative and get involved, there are many opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and contribute meaningfully.
The culture is very welcoming and inclusive. There is a strong emphasis on respect, fairness, and creating an environment where unacceptable behaviour towards colleagues is not tolerated. The team has built a workplace where people feel valued and supported.
The work environment is also a great balance between structure and flexibility. While there are clear procedures in place to maintain quality and consistency, there is also understanding and adaptability when it comes to individual circumstances.
Cons
Because Quilombo UK has quite a few volunteers in its work environment, communication and workflow could be strengthened. Sometimes, responsibilities and timelines can be affected because people may not always have the same level of availability or urgency.
