Pros
coworkers always doing something always able to work extremely flexible schedule (if you’re a clerk) tuition reimbursement steady expectations if you’re a clerk some customers are amazing stock is good
Cons
don’t get paid nearly enough gotta be a kiss up to get anywhere-they’d rather hire someone off the streets who’d “gas” them up rather than a STRONG worker who speaks up (seen way too many times). lots of people with a cult like mindset no breaks (yes, really - even if you work a 5am-11pm) says youre never left alone in the stores… ok entry level management is miserable, in every way possible. pay, horrible schedule, almost zero flexibility, triple the work with hardly a raise, and you just gotta literally hope you get sent somewhere with a good bonus just to feel like the promotion was worth it. just not worth the pay. you gotta be built a certain way for QT, and even then the burnout is real favoritism. some supervisors do some questionable things. the company acts like it pays you nearly enough for having 16+ year olds literally get threatened and harassed by customers. 13/hr for us to have a machete waved in our faces or our coworkers/managers getting robbed at gunpoint? horrible insurance no piercings/visible tattoos/unnatural hair colors (yes, back then even just blonde bangs with different “natural” colored hair was borderline too much)/facial fair. boys cant have ear piercings either. mustache too “untrimmed”? they’ll give you a razor and go make you trim it up. should i keep going?
