QB is trying so hard to compete with other IT consultancy to deliver large scale data platform for analytics use-case. The problem is, it is lead by a bunch of MBA grads from McKinsey who doesn't know anything about proper software engineering process. As a result, engineers are led by non-technical people which forced an unrealistic deadline, resulting in overwork and low quality of code. This can actually be solved if QB sticks to what has been its forte all along, advance modeling and analytics. I think majority of DS will be happy in this environment (which mostly happened only in London HQ). But for DE, and especially if you are not based in London, don't expect the same level of excitement in your work.
