Pros
Most of the coworkers were cool to work with, fairly laid back environment, very small employee discount on products. Tips were decent until we had to start splitting them during/after curbside.
Cons
Management, store-level and upper, was god awful. Communication was practically non-existent. Upper management played favorites when it came to promotions and raises, and it was definitely a "boy's club". It was well known that if you liked to drink and do c*ke, you'd be up for a promotion in no time. Owner and upper management only cared about profits, couldn't care less about their employees. A store manager that I worked with was s*xually assaulted by the owner's friend, who was in upper management, and HR asked HER to apologize to him for "starting rumors". I worked there when the pandemic started and we went full curbside, HR at the time was an anti-masker and made it very clear, held large meetings with staff in small enclosed spaces when there were literal limits on capacities. I personally removed moldy flower from the sales floor, only to come in the next day to see the product back on the shelf being sold, A few months later, this same situation happened to a friend who worked at a different location. We were constantly short-staffed, especially once the pandemic started. The employee turn-over rate was ridiculous. We were constantly reminded by store management that if we were unhappy, there was a stack of applications for people waiting to take our jobs. It was made obvious to us everyday that we were very replaceable. Our employee discount started off great, but slowly dwindled down to the bare minimum benefits the company could offer. Customers were often rude, impatient, belligerent, sometimes downright dangerous. Curbside "runners" were made to go outside to take/deliver curbside orders even during active severe thunderstorms.
