RUN! Clinical team is HORRIBLE. - Clinical Team Member Proxima Clinical Research Employee Review

Pros

Any warm body can fill the seat! Proxima's clinical team will hire people with very little experience, so it is a chance to break into the industry and get experience. They will also promote from within, so you can move up faster than other companies even though you don't have the experience to perform the work that you are assigned. This still allows you to take the title and move to another company that has better training and opportunities. Unlimited vacation time (when they allow you to use it). Lots of paid days off (although many use these days to catch up on their work).

Cons

Very low pay compared to industry standards which is surprising because the company must fill the clinical spots with contractors, and the contractors are paid well. No annual bonuses and often no cost of living annual raises unless you beg or threaten to quit. When issues arise, the management team is either absent or micromanaging. The company is always understaffed, so each employee is overworked. There is no human resources team, so there is no ability to talk to anyone when problems arise. Proxima hires inexperienced people with no training plan, and they terminate employees routinely (either for being unable to quickly figure out how to do a job that no one trained them to do or simply because you didn't agree with the management team). They had a round of layoffs in 2023. For a company with such a SMALL clinical team, they didn't need a lot of the non-clinical staff.

Pros

Working at Proxima Clinical Research has been an incredibly rewarding experience. The company fosters a collaborative and supportive environment that truly sets it apart. Even though I work remotely, I never feel isolated—there’s always someone available to help if I have questions or need clarification. Whether it’s reaching out to a colleague or management, the culture encourages open communication and teamwork. One of the standout aspects is how streamlined and accessible the training processes are. There are various templates and reference materials that make it easy to get up to speed and stay informed on procedures, which is especially helpful in a fast-paced clinical setting. Management is approachable and genuinely engaged with employees. I’ve never felt like “just a number” here. Leadership actively listens, values feedback, and makes space for both recognition and constructive dialogue. On top of all that, the benefits package is phenomenal—better than any I’ve encountered elsewhere. Proxima really invests in the well-being of its employees, and it shows. Overall, if you’re looking for a company where your voice matters, where you’re supported, and where growth is encouraged, Proxima is a fantastic place to be.

Cons

No company is without its challenges, but it’s how those challenges are addressed that makes the difference—and I’ve seen a strong effort here.

Pros

None, anymore unfortunately, and I’m not kidding

Cons

Proxima hired me and was a breath of fresh air. They seemed to care about their employees, our work/life balance, and growing in our roles and into new roles. Unfortunately over the last two years that culture has declined, and the desire to get better in our roles doesn’t seem to be there. There’s no pressure from management/upper management to do our jobs well. Lots of mistakes and poor handling of situations get ignored or swept under the rug until we absolutely can’t ignore them anymore, and by then it’s too late. It was like a constant game of catch up at this company, always running to put out one fire after another.
