Pros
Providence is a fixture in the Northwest, providing faith-based health care for more than 150 years. It's been stable and conservative. It donates more care in the communities it serves than any other organization. The people of Providence believe in their mission. They care about each other and the organization. Up until recently, the organization cared about them, avoiding layoffs long after other health care organizations were letting people go.
Cons
After the "affiliation" with Swedish (really, the takeover of Providence and the end of any real faith basis) and the expense of installing Epic, the organization is now on a cost-cutting jihad. Upper management has been expecting too much revenue and paying themselves too much for years. Now that the reality of lower revenue is in, cutting executive bonuses isn't enough, so they have the consultants in telling them to cut people left and right. The ones left behind are doing three times as much work and morale is cracking.
