Protiviti = Politics (at the expense of their Clients and Staff) - Senior Consultant Protiviti Employee Review

Pros

Protiviti does provide exposure to some great industries. Pay rate is comparable. Seem to care about what is needed to provide service to client. Appears to be a good place for a young out of college student who is able to execute and not veer off track by thinking for themselves. Following management orders to the letter is strictly adhered. Expect to be chargeable, but may have to work a lot of overtime without compensation or recognition. Be a good soldier, not questioning authority and you will be good to go. If you think you can fall in line, with this mentality go for it.

Cons

POLITICS, POLITICS, POLITICS. Not interested in hearing how to work more efficiently and effectively if Senior Management is the one who started the process. Push it out the door no matter what the cost. Not the place to be if you care more about the product than Senior Management. Big 4 was never this bad. Very disappointed with the quality of product being produced - a cookie cutter approach with no ability to think outside the box. Just make sure you make it "look good". If you are smart and female, forget about this old boy establish. Old school reins and we are talking the little red school house.

Pros

1) Chicago office has a good culture, overall. It’s not perfect but most of the people are great. 2) Work-life balance score has been solid (about 5+ years of insights here) 3) Although it was not great this year, Incentive compensation has overall been pretty good over the course of 5+ years. Much better than big 4 in my experience.

Cons

1) Since 2023, the culture hasn’t been great for a variety of reasons (mainly due to sluggish performance and growing too fast) 2) It feels more like a temporary staffing agency versus a consulting firm for a lot of the time. 3) There has been an awkward push for a return to the office and more business development focus that is in stark contrast to what most Protiviti people value. 4) Most people I talk to say they are not motivated by most of the MDs they interact with (this is significant in my opinion).
