Pros
Bright people seeking to make the world a better place. Countless opportunities to problem-solve and stretch the boundaries of what we do. Few places can offer this level of opportunity to be as creative and to make as large an impact as 360, or to enable one to engage on some fascinating, world-relevant challenges, particularly in a place like the Bay Area where there is a dearth of such opportunities. Offers the potential to deepen quant skills and work in the fuzzy quant/qual space in which we operate.
Cons
The con of all this freedom and creativity is you have to be comfortable with ambiguity and change, as well as handling the menial tasks at the same time as the more fun, strategic ones. The company has transformed and is a work in progress. That means at times the culture can be a bit weak, or efforts to recruit a diverse and gender-balanced workforce may not seem to be enough (though progress is being made). Each of these challenges is an opportunity to help steer the course of the company – for me, that challenge is much preferable to a perfectly well-oiled machine where you have to plug in and do the same job as that of your predecessors.
