While the firm views itself as a national or even international firm, it really only has a strong presence in a couple markets -- and none of those are Chicago. So working in the Chicago office is very isolating within the firm, which as political as it is (as is common in Big Law firms), leaves associates with no possibility of advancement. I repeat, NO possibility of advancement. As proof, no associate has been elevated to partner within the Chicago office in the 10+ years of its existence. I can't put it any more plainly than: do not work here if you want a fulfilling law firm career.
