Good salary and work-life balance, but poor leadership - Anonymous employee Procter & Gamble Employee Review

Pros

- good salary - good work life balance (if done right)

Cons

- mostly incompetent leadership. Most of IT directors get a role based on unrelevant experience and don't have any hard skills - very corporate culture. People tend to get competetive and it's hard to know who can be trusted. A lot of employees do free overtime because they want to get promoted (the promotion keeps getting delayed by managers). Being loud and visible is more valued than doing good work. Promotions are often based on doing additional stuff like engaging in communities and communication rather than project work.

Pros

Many intelligent people who are experts in their fields who are willing to help and provide advice (if they have time). Decent benefits and pay.

Cons

I mentioned time because many people are stretched and overworked. Work life balance is pretty bad and shows no signs of improvement. A lot of this can be attributed to near useless management. Every project is treated as absolute maximum priority but can still be dropped at a moment's notice. Work processes are horribly cumbersome and slow. Even small changes require many approvals but there are endless demands to "move faster".
