Pros

-flexible work hours -relatively good hourly pay -significant infrastructure to support tutors with all aspects of the job (training, client relations, finding new students) -rewarding work -very helpful online dashboard system for managing client and student notes/progress and communicating with team members -optional trainings and tutor meetings provide nice sense of community -largely remote

Cons

-significant amount of work outside of billable hours (ex. lengthy required lesson summaries due within 24-hours of lesson) -confusing, ever-changing management structure that results in balls being dropped and murky decision making -overwhelmed, frustrated middle management -tutors pay rates are lower due to large company infrastructure -company in flux with recent layoffs and restructuring -lots of recent turnover -"culture of caring" seems like a distant memory -often feels like profits are put before people -lack of benefits for all but a chosen few -stagnant pay, no inflation-adjustments, rare and very small raises -few offices remain after the pandemic; no physical central office remains -dwindling interpersonal relationships due to all-remote work -vibe feels quite negative these days -leadership void -ongoing exodus of once-loyal, long-term employees

Pros

Everyone working at this company wants you to succeed and is very responsive. The pay is decent, as is the raise/incentive structure. Can be as flexible as you want -- some tutors work only remotely, others only in person, and some a hybrid of the two.

Cons

Inconsistent tutoring opportunities. The company recently consolidated their org structure and more students now prefer in-person tutoring to online tutoring, but they will still promise you students (even though you may not get any for months at a time)
