Wouldn't recommend even as a last resort - Retail Assistant- Sales Floor Primark Employee Review

Pros

Probably just the work/life balance as it's only 4 hour shifts a day. (Just as well as you would probably go insane) If you want longer hours then consider another company. If you dont have a choice or it's a first job then apply but try not to stay too long. That's how it works as staff are constantly changing and mostly just young people in college/uni. Colleagues are ok.

Cons

Made to work like a dog and get treated like one too. Managers don't care as you can easily be replaced and supervisors are constantly behind you to meet impossible demands from management. You either get in line and follow the hierarchy or leave. Requests aren't considered even in dire situations such as a colleague who had cancer and wanted a flexible shift pattern to attend hospital appointments but this was denied as it's only about what works for them as a company and whatever is in their best interests. They will take advantage of you just because they can and act very cocky if you say something they dont like and let you know your place. If it's bad here, wonder how they treat workers overseas. Depressing company to work for, come home feeling crap. So glad I'm leaving soon, any other clothing store feels like a dream. Hardly any opportunity to progress and no benefits apart from discount at times.

Pros

You get lots of PTO up front as a part timer and can gain flex hours overtime. Get a 50 cent raise every six months.

Cons

Was told during onboarding that if a Christian comes into the store spreading the gospel, I have to kick them out. This includes the mention of the Jesus without the church invite. Managers claim its rude and if a customer does it, they get booted. Faced harassment from a customer and management didn't let me switch too a different department. Extremely high turnover rate and managers don't replace them, making your job more stressful during peak hours. Hard to use PTO. Little to no training. Too many bachelor and master holding part timers who get lucked out of moving up in the company. Managers give some people no task while pilling on multiple tasks on one person. Too many managers to deal with (and usually never find) and the full timers make you do the dirty work while they "unpack boxes". Its a pro-LGBT anti christian company. If they want to be pro-LGBT, than more power to them. But anti-Christian is discriminatory and unnecessary.
