Pros
Some individual contributors are exceptionally dedicated, talented, and supportive. If you’re lucky enough to work alongside them, your experience may be more positive. Team-level collaboration can be strong in pockets of the organization.
Cons
Leadership is rooted in fear and insecurity. New ideas are often viewed as threats rather than opportunities, and initiative is punished instead of celebrated. Contributions may be ignored or, worse, repackaged as leadership’s own. Support is scarce, blame is common, and honest feedback is unwelcome. Advancement depends more on allegiance than ability. It’s a place where longevity is earned through silence, not merit.
