Pros
- We are all still aligned with our original vision of giving superpowers to merchants, four years after the company was founded. No pivots, no excuses, just eyes on one goal.
- We are very flexible with what we work on — engineers are open to exploring new areas of the tech stack, wear many hats and are unafraid to put on new ones, helping out where they can for the company's sake.
- We are willing to ask each other for help, and willing to help each other out as needed. Everyone is very willing to share their time to dive deeper into an issue, provide input, even sit down and pair program for a bit.
- We are really open with each other at the company — prioritization and planning meeting notes are immediately shared with everyone, and anyone can contribute their ideas to every product — often it's as simple as walking over to the team working on it.
- Many in the company have families; many have very disparate schedules. Poynt is surprisingly flexible with work hours and work-from-home schedules.
Cons
- It's sometimes hard to balance wanting to build out a demo or new product, with maintaining and supporting existing products.
