Pros
Assistant counselors are high school (16 and above) and some college students. Most of the heavy lifting like planning is handled by the counselors, assistant counselors are there to assist them. Pretty wide variety of jobs you can do; stuff for outdoorsy people, athletic people, creative types, etc. And you get a choice of what age groups to work with, anywhere from the really little kids to 11-12 year olds. The counselors and coordinators were mostly really nice, meetings were always fun. Good salary (for a high school summer job).
Cons
Can't think of any cons except that the stoplight on Dolley Madison Blvd is ridiculously slow and it's unavoidable if you're coming from the south, add an extra 5 minutes to your commute.
