My entire supervision experience has been awful. Analysts who should not be supervising are overseeing cases that they are not competent enough to ethically oversee. My experience almost caused me to leave the field entirely. Analysts have no problem talking about others, being unprofessional. Will leave assistants with little to no direction and then get upset when they are contacted. I've waited MONTHS for direction/programming for clients. Lack of communication from supervisors, but then they show up and "flip out" due to their short comings. Any analyst that does not value the effort or opinions of their assistants are not any analysts I want to work with! Someone who will finagle data to cover up their lack of proper supervision is awful. There have been multiple nightmare situations, but for a student analyst, the thought of leaving to finish hours is HORRID. I sure hope someone catches on and starts taking a closer look on these cases with analysts who are not seasoned enough to do their job. I have been on multiple cases with a supervisor who is the reason why clients cancel services! This is not what I expected coming into this field! Not much to compare it with, but if I knew then what I know now...I would have went running for the hills! Promotions are granted due to lack of bodies and not because one is competent to do the job. Lack of business savvy.
I work my butt off and to be treated the way a certain analyst treats myself and others is completely an ethic violation.
