Pros

There's no sexual harassment that I'd noted, something other local magazines can't say.

Cons

Everyone lives in constant fear of the owners

Pros

Small, fast paced, friendly. Always a couple of laughs each day. Great satisfaction when the magazine appears each issue.

Cons

None that I can think of.

Pros

Great thing to build up resume and was shockingly easy to get the internship. I don't think they even looked at my portfolio. + Independent working time, flexible schedule, & ability to work on creative projects and design.

Cons

No one listens to you, editor in chief is childish and throws tantrums, art director steps in at last minute and changes weeks of hard work. In my 3.5 month internship, 2 people quit. Absolutely no creative vision-- every choice is made based on what everyone thinks the EIC will want. It changes on a whim. Generative AI usage. The age and stubbornness of the higher-ups constrict the overall vision, makes being an intern feel like being a secretary in the 1950s, except its completely unpaid.
