Variety of projects and work experience, never boring. Generally all employees are professionals and there is no micromanagement. As with all jobs in the environmental field, work and job security is based on projects awarded to the company and receipt of funding, not employee performance. When the work load has decreased and employees laid off, Portage has made an effort to bring good people back to work when projects resume. The Health and Safety Professionals at Portage are extremely heplful and actually care about employees. This is extremely important in the environmental industry.

It is very difficult to get a raise.
