Pros

People are mostly nice. A nice selection of office fruit. That's about it

Cons

Like most private equity backed companies, there's a scrambling culture for growth at all costs. This can sometimes mean we're not building a good product. The company is successful and profitable and yet sometimes the messaging around the office is that we're not (because we didn't meet unrealistic budgets). There is a slightly weird obsession with office attendance rather than just trusting people to get work done. So much so that they created individual dashboards for people to monitor their own attendance. Upon drilling into the data the report is called "Staff Whereabouts"...reminds me of being back at school There is huge crossover between roles within Tech/Product and Delivery, so much so that responsibilities are poorly understood and quite often you're just left thinking "What am I supposed to be doing here?". The approach to planning and delivery is simply to take estimates as gospel and commit hard dates on the team. There is continuous top down pressure from exec, to such an extent that the whole engineering team feel under constant watch. We claim we're agile but it's waterfall dressed in sprints.

Pros

The company has strong technical talent and offers excellent exposure to senior stakeholders and board-level work, making it a solid place to build commercial and financial skills. Many colleagues are intelligent, collaborative, and supportive, and HR in particular plays a positive role by being approachable and genuinely trying to handle people issues fairly. When working with the right individuals, the culture can feel fast-paced, stimulating, and rewarding.

Cons

The employee experience depends heavily on line management, with inconsistent people-leadership standards across the business. Some managers lack the skills or confidence to develop high performers, leading to limited visibility, unclear feedback, and stalled progression despite strong delivery. As a result, merit and contribution are not always recognised evenly, and career development can be influenced more by internal politics than performance.
