Pros
I joined Plume Design with high hopes, and for the first six months, it truly lived up to its promises. The work environment was supportive, the culture felt positive, and there was a real sense of purpose among the teams. Everything seemed well-organized, and employees were treated with respect and transparency. I was genuinely excited about the future.
Cons
Unfortunately, things took a dramatic turn for the worse as the company began implementing aggressive cost-cutting measures. It became evident that management, along with the Executive Leadership Team (ELT), had been keeping us in the dark about the company’s financial health. Without warning, there were two rounds of mass layoffs, resulting in the departure of many talented individuals across different departments, especially in R&D. The loss of these employees was a huge blow, not just because of the relationships built, but because the company clearly didn’t value the knowledge and expertise these people carried. It was frustrating to see how little regard the company had for retaining its intellectual capital. Adding to the frustration, there was an entire year with no raises or bonuses for the rest of us, despite continuous promises of recovery. Meanwhile, the company continued to spend lavishly on charity events and perks that could have been avoided. It was disheartening to watch resources being funneled into non-essential areas while the core workforce, who had been loyal and dedicated, was left without recognition or support. Ultimately, it became clear that the leadership prioritized maintaining a public image over the well-being and morale of their employees. The lack of transparency, along with poor financial decision-making, drove away some of the most talented individuals in the company. It felt like no one at the top truly cared about the long-term impact of these losses. While I am grateful for the initial positive experience, the rapid decline in trust and respect from the company makes it hard to recommend Plume to anyone looking for a stable, caring workplace. It could have been a fantastic place to grow, but mismanagement and poor priorities tarnished what could have been.
