Pros

– At a peer level, you'll find many nice colleagues... Maybe even friends – Generous hybrid working model – A product with potential

Cons

I'll attempt to map these to the "Company traits" which are very much a one-way system and only really apply to the people who actually do the work. You're asked to live and breath this but if leadership were really honest with themselves I think they'd see themselves falling short on every trait more often than not. Disclaimer - This refers specifically to senior leadership, many peers and middle management are exemplary individuals. – OWNERSHIP AND ACCOUNTABILITY They say Plum is not a place to be told what to do. But, you won't own decision making on projects you work on, and often you won't even get to decide the approach. When outcomes are positive, they'll promote these internally showing their finesse in decisive leadership. When things don't deliver, leadership are scarce and leave the team they lead to take full responsibility. Your rationale is considered an excuse and their excuses, rationale. – PROACTIVENESS "Be the driver, not the passenger" they say. There have been examples of people actually being penalised when taking initiative to solve issues. Think honestly, how proactive is your leadership? This is mainly demonstrated through the "figure it out/sink or swim" management approach with is downright lazy, not proactive. – SENSE OF URGENCY Arguably the most laughable of the lot. Plum moves fast, but doesn't move effectively. Things move quickly because we're disorganised and operate on fear and stress. Whilst prioritising speed above user trust, system reliability and scalability Plum is excels at delivering at a snails pace. Saying "Speed is our main competitive advantage" over and over does not make it true. – STRONG EXECUTION Leadership's main role is to provide vision and clear the path for success. But they create a buffet of word salads it nearly every piece of communication, which leaves people scratching their heads and wasting time deciphering whats been said. Their ability to unblock teams, drive process and culture change would land anyone else on a Performance Improvement Plan. Plum doesn't even have a QA function, which slows down putting the product in people's hands and ensures that people are overworked and simple bugs hit production and live there permanently. Let this sink in, a fintech that operates in a highly regulated space, with billions of pounds in AUM doesn't have sufficient quality assurance on the product they build. Those poor users. – ALL TOGETHER MINDSET There is not a single senior leader who works on improving collective capabilities in the organisation and the team they're charged with. These people are here for themselves only. I doubt anyone them envision seeing themselves here more longer than 3 years. This is their stepping stone on to something "better" and if you get in their way, the fury will reign down. There have been many examples of what would be defined as workplace bullying by these people. HR do not take this seriously. Be careful raising this, it could be flipped where now you are seen as the problem.

Hi there, Thank you for your review – we really appreciate the feedback, especially from employees like yourself who have been with us for a number of years. It’s great to hear that you have found peers and middle managers at Plum to be exemplary and that you appreciated the perks and benefits here. We hear your feedback on leadership at Plum and our traits. With new and experienced leadership recently joining Plum, we are looking forward to increased stability as we scale. Quality assurance is something that everyone at Plum takes very seriously and we always fulfil our duties as a regulated provider. However, having a more formalised quality assurance system is something we are now working towards. We wish you all the best with your next steps. Best wishes, Team Plum

Pros

Lavish trips as another review wrote Stock options Opportunities to grow (small raises but more responsibilities/tasks)

Cons

Don’t be misled by the 5-star reviews, many of them are not genuine and they come from the company’s HR This company used to be a good place to work, but over the past year, things have gone downhill quickly. Senior leadership, including the VPs and many managers, seem more focused on their own salaries and résumés than on supporting employees and help the company grow. As a result, morale is low, salaries are uncompetitive, and with the recent shift from remote work to a hybrid policy, work-life balance has suffered even further. Yes, our contracts are hybrid, but until recently the company was very flexible, and most employees could work from home. That changed simply because the CEO visited the London office one day and found it empty. But it’s your people who built this company, why not respect them? Instead, you’re forcing us to unnecessary commute, spend more money, and take on extra stress, all while the company continues to grow. Why? Also, your offices are small, they cannot accommodate all. To summarize; - The salaries are low and not competitive - Most people are overworked burned out - 2 days mandatory work from the office - The VP's are bad and they do not care about the people nor the product - Think twice before joining Plum, you can do better.

Hi there, Thanks for your detailed feedback, it’s always valuable to us! Firstly, we’d like to clarify that it’s simply not possible for all positive reviews to come from our HR team. As per Glassdoor’s guidelines, each individual can only submit one review per employer. We’re sorry to hear that you feel this way about our leadership team. It has evolved over time and been recently strengthened with highly experienced VPs joining from some of the top financial services companies, reflecting the growth and potential of Plum, with operational profitability within touching distance. They are fully committed to driving both company growth and employee development. On compensation, please rest assured that we remain committed to offering fair and competitive pay, aligned with market standards. A salary benchmarking exercise is conducted twice a year, using multiple trusted data resources. Finally,, Plum has always operated as a hybrid company, not a fully remote one. While we truly value in-person interaction, we also understand that some people might be more productive when working from home, which is why we’ve maintained flexibility for up to three remote working days per week. So colleagues can still spend the majority of their week working from home, and get the best of both worlds. We deeply value our people and their satisfaction. However, at the same time, we’re fully committed to hybrid working given its benefits for collaboration, creativity and problem solving. The specific policy is working well and largely delivering on our expectations about closer collaboration so far. We’re always open to direct feedback and encourage you to continue sharing your thoughts, either via your manager, your People Ops Partner or other forums (surveys, leadership AMA etc). Best wishes, Team Plum
