Middle managers were clearly not capable at leading, but were great at micromanaging (don't ask questions, just do as I tell you). Actively discouraged from sharing ideas for improvements to efficiency and quality (don't seem negative). Actively discouraged from cross-department collaboration (don't waste their time, they're more valuable than your ideas).
