Pros
Everyone at Playgig is incredibly talented, with game devs and artists from all across the industry. We all enjoyed working together tremendously and it really showed.
Cons
- Many of us were often in fear of being laid off because of frequent changes in company direction. - Workers felt pressured to align with leadership's decisions or risk job security, creating a work culture where it became difficult to raise concerns. - Management was often warned that some decisions could negatively impact production, but they were often ignored. - Management would sometimes have game devs work long hours and weekends, randomly shifting gears in the middle of production. - Many employees were assured that AI would not impact jobs, but the company has since publicly taken steps in the complete opposite direction after laying off many of their employees. - The company presented itself as fully remote, hiring people from around the world. But, this year, they chose to suddenly lay off everyone living in the US (including many of their leads) who don't live out in LA and couldn't move out there to be on location. It's a shame. Everyone they employed at Playgig were so exceptional at what they do. Playgig didn't have the experience or the leadership skills to hone any of the talent that they have.
