Pros

Placed has the fortunate combination high-quality and interesting 1st party data paired with a ton of smart people. There is a strong science and engineering DNA in the company and the % of scientists is very high relative to other places I've worked. As a place to do data science, it's hard to beat. The accountability is very high and there are zero politics. The company has a strong and defensive position in the market and is enjoying a fantastic growth rate.

Cons

Not a show stopper, but I'd prefer to work on a mac instead of a linux ThinkPad. For a profitable start-up, it seems a little silly not to let folks choose which platform to work on.

Pros

Our Executive team is composed of some of the hardest working individuals I've ever met and Placed is a reflection of the passion they put into the business. There is no sugarcoating that working at Placed means working hard but it also means working with some of the smartest, driven individuals in the area and working for a growing start-up with a very long future ahead of it. There are little-to-no politics or egos and a lot of respect for each other. Other pros: free lunch, unlimited snacks/food, a benefits packages that continues to get stronger each year, a 401(k) with match (and no vest), flexibility if you need to work from home - and to-the-point, informative meetings which means I can actually do my job.

Cons

Don't sweat the small stuff: we have a large, hard-working Executive team that can be too involved with smaller day-to-day things and details. Define and communicate: as more senior leadership has come on board, it is not always clear who the decision maker or final authority is - or how it's changed as the org continues to grow. Process isn't a bad thing: there is some resistance to implementing process or defining ownership where it's needed which has resulted in some friction between teams (or between older employees versus newer ones).
