Pros
Loved it! Started at minimum wage ($5.75 at the time), but within 2 yrs was up to $9 which is awesome for a driver because we also got a delivery charge of $1-$2.75 per delivery (it fluctuated with the gas prices), plus tips. I would average$20-$25/hr on a slow night, and $40+/hr on the weekends and holidays/game days. Basically once you know your delivery area by heart you can make bank. Not to toot my own horn, but I could run circles around all the other drivers! The job was fun. You just drive around and listen to music, stop at a store or grab some food somewhere anytime you wanted (as long as you were quick). Even when you get stuck helping in the store (between deliveries) it was fun because of how close everyone was. It was like a big family with our fair share of goofing off.
Cons
If you have a bad driving record it probably will catch up to you eventually. After I had been there 5 years the district manager pulled me aside and said he noticed I've gotten 6 moving violations during my employment (only one of which was while working). They told me upon being hired I could only have 3 in 5 years. He let me stay, because I was an awesome driver, with the agreement I would get no more tickets until I fell within the 3 in 5 agreement again. Unfortunately I didn't make it and they had to let me go. Otherwise I have no doubt I'd still be there. (Dead end job-whatever... I've never made close to $40/hr since.)
