Pros
One leader is fantastic, as are many of the employees unaffected by the too leadership's cultural cues
Cons
There were fantastic people that worked in Pima County's Detainee & Crisis Systems Department, but the top level leadership fostered a toxic and paranoid culture of perpetual grievance, hilarious self-seriousness, and an isolated department attitude that made my decision to eventually leave an easy one. The top leadership is both lazy and convinced of their own genius which made them easily manipulated – usually by one of the personality disordered leaders – which lead to ill-informed decisions and a "fire first" attitude toward employees. The decisions seemed removed from what was best for those we served, often driven by paranoia and grievance. One leader is smart, supportive, grounded, and not guided by the bizarre insecure ego's of the earlier mentioned leaders, so I would suggest waiting until they take over. On the bright side, you can find work somewhere else that pays substantially more and doesn't have a toxic culture like I did.
